Fact Check: Is it true that aircraft carriers and the US dollar serve as instruments of economic and military pressure on the world?

Factcheck

On July 13, 2024, on the YouTube channel of the Belarusian state news agency BelTA, political scientist Sergey Kurginyan expressed the following opinion:

So, they need to be defeated, to show everyone else that if the Russians can be defeated, then anyone can be. Occupy the territory, place nuclear weapons and other things there, and start cornering China, using everyone—India, Vietnam, and it’s clear Japan, Australia, and all the rest—to tighten this ring and establish an oligarchic order in their interests, where there will be no competition or whims of the population. They cannot simply become a very large country, second or third; they would collapse immediately. They have aircraft carriers, so to speak, missiles, it doesn’t matter, and a printing press. The printing press must push dollars into the world, and the aircraft carriers must make it clear that anyone who doesn’t want to play along will have their belly cut open. And they’ll be stuffed in there. They cannot cancel this. Therefore, they will always move towards this convergence. They organized the war in Ukraine. I have said many times that it was called “the Russian cauldron” in their language long ago. They set it up. They need it very much. They have tamed Europe. They destroyed the main thing they feared in the West—the alliance between Russia and Germany.
