Fake intervention: how Serbian authorities justify protests with myths about the West

Factcheck

On March 24, 2025, a video with the headline: “Protests in Serbia organized by the West? Authorities found evidence!” was posted on the YouTube channel CTVBY. With the following content:

Serbian authorities have called the protests taking place in the country an attempt to carry out a color revolution. As Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić stated, Western intelligence agencies are the organizer and sponsor of the ongoing unrest in the country. Moreover, there is even evidence that the West is conducting training seminars for demonstration participants. There are also facts of involvement of foreign embassies in this, primarily from European Union member countries. As it became known, all kinds of protest leaders constantly visited Western missions, where they received instructions on how to organize riots and collected their salaries for their work. Aleksandar Vučić included statements by high-ranking EU officials who openly support the protesters as evidence of Western interference in Serbia’s internal affairs.
