Fact check: Are Polish authorities really involved in human trafficking and corruption amid construction of wall on border with Belarus?

Factcheck

On October 30, 2024, during a broadcast on the YouTube channel SB TV, political scientist Yuri Shevtsov stated the following:

“In Poland, they have taken steps that appear to be eyewash and budget siphoning. For instance, they built a so-called wall on the border with Belarus to prevent refugees. But the refugee flow remains significant. What we see—bodies of people being thrown over the wall, migrants killed by their police or frozen to death, or those beaten—this is nothing more than a cruel spectacle. In reality, there is a transfer of people, human trafficking, of such a scale that Germany is introducing restrictions on the border with Poland. This all indicates that organized crime in Poland, associated with illegal human trafficking, has penetrated very high levels of government.”
